Vietnam’s expanding road-transport ecosystem is supporting demand for tires across passenger vehicles, commercial fleets, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and off-road applications. The country’s extensive use of road transportation for both passenger and freight movement creates diverse operating requirements, while vehicle production, imports, logistics activity, and fleet replacement contribute to continuing demand for tires across different vehicle categories.

A comprehensive market assessment by Markntel Advisor reveals that the Vietnam Tire Market is valued at USD 1.83 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach USD 2.54 billion by 2032, registering a CAGR of 5.62% during 2026–2032. The study uses 2025 as the base year and identifies Radial as the leading segment by tire type. The Vietnam tire industry analysis covers radial and bias tires across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, and off-road vehicles.

Radial Tires Lead the Product Structure

Radial tires represent the leading tire-type segment in the study, reflecting their relevance across modern passenger and commercial vehicle applications. Their construction is widely associated with characteristics such as durability, handling, heat management, and rolling performance, making them suitable for a broad range of road-going vehicles.

Vietnam also has a developed tire manufacturing base serving both domestic and international requirements. The country’s trade-remedy authority has documented substantial investment by foreign manufacturers in domestic tire production, including facilities producing passenger-car radial tires. According to the Vietnam Trade Remedies Authority, major foreign-invested plants have established significant annual production capacities for radial tires.

Road Transport Supports Tire Utilization

Road transportation remains central to Vietnam’s passenger and freight mobility. During the first six months of 2026, road transport accounted for 91.6% of passenger movements and 73.7% of freight tonnage transported in the country, according to Vietnam’s National Statistics Office. This scale of road activity creates a broad operating base for tires across private vehicles, commercial fleets, and logistics applications.

The same statistics indicate that road freight transportation increased 13.5% year-on-year during the first half of 2026, while passenger road transport increased 20.2%. The National Statistics Office transport report also highlights the need for coordinated infrastructure development, stronger transport capacity, and digital transformation across logistics services.

Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Fleets

The vehicle categories covered by the study span passenger cars as well as light, medium, and heavy commercial vehicles. Passenger vehicles generate requirements associated with everyday urban and intercity mobility, while commercial fleets typically operate under higher utilization and load conditions.

Vietnam’s freight network is particularly relevant to commercial tire requirements. Rising road-freight volumes can increase vehicle mileage and contribute to recurring tire replacement needs. Tire selection for commercial applications can depend on load capacity, road conditions, operating distances, tread characteristics, and fleet-maintenance practices.

Two-Wheelers Remain an Important Mobility Category

Two-wheelers form another significant component of Vietnam’s transportation landscape. Motorcycles and scooters are widely used for personal mobility and commercial delivery activities, creating requirements for tires designed around different vehicle sizes, loads, and operating conditions.

Recent industry data also points to continued two-wheeler activity alongside a transition toward greener propulsion. VietnamPlus reported that five members of the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers recorded 638,431 motorcycle sales in the second quarter of 2026, representing a 4.4% year-on-year increase. The Vietnam motorcycle industry report also noted the market’s gradual shift toward electric mobility.

Manufacturing and Replacement Requirements

Vietnam’s tire industry includes both domestic manufacturers and foreign-invested production facilities. The Trade Remedies Authority has noted that foreign-invested manufacturers have concentrated substantially on passenger-car radial tires, while domestic producers maintain production across automotive and two-wheeler tire categories. This manufacturing structure supports both vehicle assembly requirements and broader replacement demand.

Replacement tires are influenced by mileage, road surfaces, vehicle loading, maintenance practices, and driving conditions. Commercial vehicles operating intensively on freight routes can have different replacement cycles from privately used passenger vehicles, while motorcycles and scooters require products adapted to smaller wheel sizes and different operating patterns.

Evolving Vehicle Technologies

Vietnam’s transportation sector is also undergoing changes related to electric vehicles and digital mobility. The growth of electric two-wheelers and other electrified platforms can create new considerations for tire manufacturers, including vehicle weight, torque delivery, rolling resistance, durability, and noise characteristics.

At the same time, the continued development of logistics and road infrastructure can influence how vehicles are utilized. Vietnam’s logistics authorities are tracking road-freight volumes and multimodal transport patterns, reflecting the importance of transport connectivity to the national economy.

Outlook

Vietnam’s tire landscape is being shaped by road-transport activity, vehicle manufacturing, freight movement, passenger mobility, two-wheeler usage, and replacement requirements. With Radial identified as the leading tire-type segment, modern radial products remain central to the study’s market structure. Meanwhile, continued development of commercial transportation, vehicle fleets, domestic manufacturing, and emerging electric mobility is creating varied requirements across Vietnam’s tire ecosystem through 2032.
