David Akers was one of the best kickers in the NFL when he played for the . His son, Luke Akers, is a punter. The Eagles recently gave Luke a look at their rookie minicamp: Luke akers 67 degree angle and 600lbs of force on punt Coach Schuman (@coachschuman) MORE: Luke is an undrafted player out of Northwestern, and unlikely his pops, he also kicks with his right foot. He began his college career at UCLA for two seasons before spending four years with the Wildcats. Luke actually did some kicking in his final Andrew Wylie Jersey two years at Northwestern, too -- 13-for-13 on extra points, 13-for-17 on field goals -- but his punting is the ability he has at a potentially NFL level. He averaged 45.0 yards per punt in his final season at Northwestern. The Eagles didn't make any announcements about signing Akers. Neither did the , who also invited him to rookie minicamp. Philly currently has the experienced Braden Mann as its punter. But given how quickly things can change on special teams, organizations like to know who might be one phone call away if they need a quick replacement. It certainly would be cool to one day see another Akers in an Eagles uniform. More NFL news: Michael Deiter Jersey
